Question about loops
This question is about loops. You need to write a loop which repeats a certain number of times, print a few strings and print one string at a specific point in the loop.
-
Begin by specifying a loop. This may be a
whileloop or aforloop, but you are only allowed to use one loop to answer this question. The loop must repeat 7 times. -
For each step in the loop, print the string
"I made a fried egg". -
After the string
"I made a fried egg"has been printed 3 times, print the string"I also made baked beans". Then continue iterating to the end of the loop. -
Once the loop has finished, print the string
"This breakfast is too large"
The expected output is:
I made a fried egg
I made a fried egg
I made a fried egg
I also made baked beans
I made a fried egg
I made a fried egg
I made a fried egg
I made a fried egg
This breakfast is too large
(This would be a relatively easy question, by the way).

Protests in France
About the protest we briefly mentioned in class last week: theguardian.com/world/2026/o...
Happy to be swimming in new waters!

"Data centres have a total of 15 GW (15,000 MW) in queue for electricity connections in the Netherlands, grid operators just disclosed. That's roughly the current average national power."
"Currently, hundreds of GW of residential solar power are controlled by terribly insecure & unregulated clouds owned by companies continents away. This problem is well known & could take down the whole European energy grid."

Landing page for people interested in the Fediverse
I found myself writing the same email over and over to introduce the #Fediverse to students, colleagues, relatives and friends, so I decided to dedicate a proper blog post to it.

Amsterdam server seized at request of U.S. authorities after antifa allegations
"Police in Amsterdam seized a server from a data center in the city’s eastern district on Tuesday, following a request from U.S. authorities. The police confirmed the seizure after it was reported by the NRC"
"4.8 million tons = $7.2 billion for Russia 🇷🇺 with love…
Give me a heads-up tonight if 🇳🇱Rutte asks us once again to spend 5% of our GDP on the 🪖American defense industry, while we’re bankrolling 🇺🇦 Ukraine’s enemy by buying 🇷🇺 Russian oil, all because 🇮🇱 Israel and the 🇺🇸 US recklessly attacked 🇮🇷 Iran and Americans now can’t fuel ⛽️️ their pick-up trucks 🛻 anymore while 🇪🇺 Europe will face new, increasingly sophisticated cyberattacks from 🇷🇺 hacker collectives with even deeper pockets 💰️ than before….."
"Renewable energy has been meeting close to 100% of Britain’s electricity needs since yesterday evening, peaking at 97% of demand at 5am — see the live data at https://grid.iamkate.com"
Escaping feudalism
New blog post on #Technofeudalism, #web3 #Bluesky and the #Fediverse.
"Like in the French and Russian revolutions, passionate advocates of market capitalism and stubborn defenders of the commons once again find themselves on the same side of an anti-feudal struggle. Yet although they share an enemy in the feudal digital overlords, they are fighting for very different futures."
"Participants have traded accusations of politicizing the IPCC’s work. Some pushing to publish before the 2028 GST summit note that major oil-producing nations are among the most vocal advocates for more time, accusing them of trying to avoid pressure to reduce carbon dioxide emissions more quickly. “The elephant in the room is the politics,” said Lisa Schipper, an IPCC editor from Sweden. Some countries, she said, are using the debate as a “stalling tactic.”

"The outcome [of the upcoming IPCC plenary meeting in Addis Ababa next week] will shape more than the publication calendar. It could influence how governments approach the next phase of climate negotiations and whether they can maintain a common scientific foundation while disagreeing over who should bear the costs of addressing global warming."

This is a great, simple introduction to Mastodon:

(Bonfire is a lot like Mastodon, just more community oriented).
Er is niet perse een nijpend zuurstoftekort.
Wel een nijpend CO2 overschot.
Maar goed, whatever plants your tree.
